We took the bike to a field near our house so I could try it in the grass and have a softer landing if I should need one. Sitting on the bike with my helmet on, giddy with excitement, and my hands on the handle bars I was nervous since the last time I was on a two wheeler I wrecked it (a moped). With a little instruction from Chris about clutches, brakes, gears, etc and some soothing words of encouragement. I sucked up my fear and took off. I couldn't stop smiling the whole time I zipped around the grass. I was saying I'm doing it, I'm doing it. I'm smiling now thinking about the feeling of success and excitement to be conquering a fear. Actually it wasn't as hard as I thought it would be.
My sister asked if I was having a midlife crisis and I said of course why else would I be riding a dirt bike at 35. She said that I'm officially the crazy one. I am a little crazy, but I'm also just a girl looking for a little wholesome excitement. My grandmother used to go dirt bike riding with my Granddaddy when they were first married. That story stuck with me as a barometer for my life. I always knew I would try it.
