Graduation Milestone

Cody and Sarah before the big production. Cody kept saying he was nervous about some of the songs. He did wonderfully with each one. I could hear his voice above the rest and his movements were dramatic and precise. I thought he was a star, but of course I'm biased...just a tiny bit.

The whole gang getting ready to walk on the stage. Mrs. Nancy had a balloon for each child. They were surprisingly patient while waiting. I think they had practiced it so much that they could do it with their eyes closed.
I caught a cute pic of Cody as he walked by. He's such a ham. His shoe lace came undone as soon as it was his turn to walk down the aisle. It distracted him a little but he stayed on course.

The prayer before the pledge of allegiance. I've never seen him pray with such conviction.

The songs had hand movements and this one was about how strong God is.

In between acts.
Another song about how big God is. Look at his seriously dramatic face. Mrs. Nancy had warned me that he had been cracking her up all week with his performance. I thought maybe he was being disruptive, but nope, just very serious.

I love my little man. I wanted to cry all day and night about this being his last year at Getwell with his friends and teachers that know and love him. I felt out of sorts with this rite of passage. Maybe I wasn't ready for it. I tend to put my head in the sand about emotional stuff. Well...I was slapped in the face with mommy emotion (I could barely breath) and then gently hugged as Chris reminded me about all the good times in the future.
Where is Sarah through all this? She is telling me she wants to get on the stage and sing too. I've got two drama queen/kings in the family. However, she wasn't sure what was going on and wouldn't let me leave her sight and wouldn't take her thumb out of her mouth.

Two peas in a pod. I look at Cody at times and think "this is what Chris was like when he was little."
School is out for summer now. I can't think too hard about what this summer means for me and Cody. He's been my constant little rock, my comic relief, chief of "I've got a great idea" and giver of hugs when Sarah makes me crazy. He takes good care of me and I hope I do the same for him.
