Cody went with my Mom on Sunday to Arkansas. The house has been eerily quiet, it was refreshing at first, however, Sarah is requiring much more of my attention. I didn't realize how much he entertained her. He's been good to her lately, pushing her around the house on her bike, finding her diaper rag when she starts asking for it and teaching her how to say words.
She hasn't asked for him and she doesn't go in his room like she does when he is here. As I write this I hear her banging on the workbench in his room. I wonder if she misses him. He called last night (Mom called so I could talk to him) and we talked for a minute and he asked "Can I talk to Sarah?" I put the phone up to her ear and she nodded her head silently while she sucked her thumb. I'm not sure what he said to her but I thought it was sweet that he asked to talk to her.
I miss my boy. He's half of the energy that lights up the house and when he's gone it's a little sad. Still I'm enjoying the ease of having to care for only one child. I forgot how fast everything goes with just one, from getting into the car, to eating lunch and not to forget only reading three little books instead of three long ones. That being said I'll be glad when I get to bring him home and things can go back to normal. Normal is relative.
